PASSION FOR WRITING
James (Jim to his friends) knew from a very early age what he wanted to be: a writer. It is this passion that he used to leave behind anything or anyone that interfered. For example, at one point in his life he said he was too caught up in a life where getting wasted was the main focus. He realized that was blocking him from writing, so he left all behind and moved to Santa Barbara. Like so many great writers, he used his personal experiences to bring to life major themes. He was absolutely dedicated to making his dialog realistic. For example, he would video record himself acting out dialog, and hone it until it was right. He was hilariously skilled at imitating accents and attitudes. And, in so many things, but especially his writing, he was absolutely unafraid. He knew the insidious dangers of self-censorship and kept it at bay.
This site is dedicated to Jim, his works, and his life. I was privileged to be his partner and love, for which I will always be grateful.
